Olympic and defending UCI World Champions will be among the international stars heading to Shanghai’s Chongming Island, China, for the 2026 Tissot UCI Track World Championships, taking place from 14 to 18 October 2026.
The Tissot UCI Track World Championships represent the UCI’s leading annual event for track cycling. In total, 22 titles of UCI World Champion are at stake: 11 for men and 11 for women. These include the six specialities on the programme of the Olympic Games - keirin, Madison, omnium, sprint, team pursuit and team sprint – as well as the elimination, individual pursuit, points race, kilometre time trial and scratch.
The Shanghai Velodrome is part of the UCI World Cycling Centre (WCC) Continental Development Satellite, which was inaugurated on 18 May 2024. Through regional programmes and educational activities, the UCI WCC’s network of Continental and Regional Development Satellites plays a key role in developing cycling in emerging nations.
As well as its development activities, Chongming Island is a celebrated destination for international road cycling at the highest level as host of the annual Tour of Chongming Island, a stage race on the UCI Women’s World Tour calendar since 2017.
Now its state-of-the-art velodrome is ready to welcome the world’s best track cyclists. Fans can look forward to intense racing and an electric atmosphere this October!
